I finally figured it out. Partly a Vista security issue, but fixed it
through Trust Center while I was working with the add-ins. Thanks for
your
help -- you pointed me in the right direction.

I can copy text from an email and paste it into Word.
Is this a bug or a switch? I had no problem with this in 2003.
I am using Office 2007 and Vista.
Thanks,
Dave
No bug, works like it should.
No bug, works like it should. You might want to post your exact steps to
reproduce.

Roady,
It's simple. I open an email I receive. I go to the text of the email,
highlight what I want, right click and click COPY. I click NEW to open a
new
email, go to the text area, right click and PASTE is greyed out.
I have tried this with CTRL-C for copy and CTRL-V for paste and the same
problem.
I can do either of the above copy steps and paste the text into a Word
document without any problem. I can't, however copy from a Word document
and
paste it into an email either.

It works in SAFE mode. I tried disabling the add-ins, but could only

2 or 3 of them and that did not resolve it. The others gave me a message
saying they were controlled by HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE and cannot be changed.
Any
ideas?

I don't know how to disable add-ons that cannot be disabled. Try to get
the newest versions of all installed add-ons, and/or contact the
manufacturers of these add-ons to inquire if they know anything about
the disabled copy&paste functionality.

I am having the same problem. The paste option appears highlighted, as if
it will work, but when it is clicked, nothing happens. Really need a
solution for this. Any ideas?

Can't Paste Into New Email - Outlook 2007
Hi.
In order to copy/paste in Outlook 2007, you have to right-click -> Copy
and right-click -> Paste.
This was not a bug, it was a "feature". For security reasons, I suppose.
However, after applying SP2 all copy/paste functionality seemed to have
been restored: [Ctrl]/[Shift]+[Ins] & [Ctrl]+[C]/[V] all seemed to work!
It is quite better this way!
