Hi to you all.
I have i w2k server with a small network, TCP/IP.
Ive got a network share where all documents are kept,
*.xls and *.doc. Some of these excel sheets have long
names, eg. 1-mediation_porto1.xls. I can not open this
over the network. It gives me a error that file cant be
located. I no that netbios only reads up to 10 caracters,
i think(something like that) I have got netbios over
tcp/ip enabled on all nics. dhcp. This was never an issue
up until now. I re-installed the server and all was well
for a week but suddenly these files cant be opened.
If i change the name of the files to shorter names it
works fine. Why was this not a problem before and it is.
IRRATATING!
