can't open secure sites after installing firewall

Hey. The other day I set up the firewall that comes with
Microsoft XP. Since doing that, I have been unable to
log into MSN or open up various secure sites, including
PayPal and various email programs. Anybody know what
gives?

hmm... maybe?

I don't know. I'm completely computer illiterate. Do
you mean, did I check any boxes or windows? Or is
a "check mark" something else?
