Can't open remote sites

I can't get FP 2000 (on Win2K) to open remote sites. Each
time I get the authentication dialog. I submit the
username & password, and I get the same error:
The folder 'http://www.xyz.com' isn't accessible. The
folder may be located on an unavailable volume or
protected by a password.

This started after I reinstalled Win2K and patches, Office
and FP 2K and patches, and IIS 5.0 & server extenstions.
So, I uninstalled and reinstalled FP, the server and the
extensions.

Another computer on the same network with the same network
settings is able to connect to the sites using FP and the
sites are at different sites, so I'm sure the problem is
with my setup.

I can open sites locally using http://localhost, but not
remote sites.I have tried every solution in the Knowledge
Base.

Help...please???

Stefan,

Thank you for taking the time to reply. Unfortunately,
this did not resolve the problem.

Your message had some links to articles that I had not yet
seen. I worked through them without success.

What I have learned is that if I log off my usual Windows
2000 account (which has Admin access) and log on as
Administrator, FP is able to access remote sites.

So the problem seems to be with the profile for the user.
I should say that I copied the entire "Documents &
Settings" from my old user to the new user after
reinstalling Win2K, including hidden & system files.

Any help MUCH appreciated!

David

You shouldn't be copying the user profiles but should let Windows create them w/ the correct permissions
- many setting are in the registry
