Can't open RegEditor

I am having serious problems trying to get anything downloaded due to my
Registry, I tried to go into edit it, but it will not open, It keeps telling
me to ask the Admin. for help, and I am the admin, and I can't help. I am
hoping there is a different way of fixing this other then Reformating, so if
anyone can help Please do, Thank you
