Can't open .pst files that ask for a Password from Outlook 2000 SP

I'm on a network at work, when I log on to use another computer and open
Outlook I'm unable to open my Personal Folders at this new location. My .pst
files are kept on the server in my own drive, readily accessible from any pc
to which I log on to. So when I try to open them I keep getting prompted for
a password, the problem is no password was ever set up to protect these
files. I'm not the only one here with this same password issue. Can anyone
shed some light to this?

DL, should I move these files back to my primary 'C:' drive? The person who
has a problem opening them. Her old pc (OS 2000) was set back, she received
a new pc w/ XP, her .pst files were then copied to her U: drive on the
server, now she can't open them because they are asking for a password. If I
moved them back to her C: drive can she access them? I'll give this a shot.
Thanks for the response.

Once the PST starts asking for a password where none was set, it's a sign
that the PST has been damaged, probably during the copy process. It's
possible that a password recovery tool may be able to salvage it. First try
this one: http://www.computerhope.com/download/updates/pst19upg.zip . If
that doesn't work, there are commercial tools that may.

Thanks Brian, I'll try that. I also did a scanpst.exe on her .pst files and
everything came back 'ok'. I'll try this shortley.

Brian, Where do I Run this from? MS-DOS or from RUN in the start menu? I
tried it from MS-DOS and I received a Program Error <80040800>.

From a command prompt.

I get 0x80040119, but my PST is a Unicode PST and I'm fairly sure PST19UPG
won't operate on a Unicode PST. You, however, said yours was an Outlook
2000 PST, so that shouldn't be an issue.

Looks like you'll have to use a commercial product.

Any idea where to get something like that?
