can't open my explorer because of activeX

Hi Guys,

Here is my problem, when i try to open explorer it gives me an error saying
can't open my computers for example because activex has prevented it from
opening. But I can go on internet explorer and it will work normally. I can
see different URLs. I just can't click see what files are on my computer. I
can't double click on my document to see what is in there. It keeps giving me
activex is prohibiting you from displaying this page normally. It is due to
some security issue. I was not sure why it was doing that. I tried lowering
all the security on internet option but that did not work to open for
example, my computer, my documents, or another folder in my hard drive. But
the strange thing is i can open internet explorer and view all web pages. If
i type in the address bar "C:\" it will give me an internet explorer error
that due to security reason activex will not work.

You don't mention what version of Windows you are using, however, you might
try the following and see if it helps:

Your current Security settings prohibit running ActiveX Controls

Set your Security to Med.
View the Browsers How-to regarding updating your browser security settings.

I am running windows 2000 operating system. With all the service packs
installed. I can open any website but when it comes to opening my doucments
or my computer i can't open it. A matter of fact i can't open any folder to
see the content of it. It gives me the error saying due to sercurity reason
activex cannot display the page properly. I don't remember what the exact
error message said. I should of wrote it down.

You may have some sort of scumware on your system that is causing this
problem. Try the following and see if it helps> If not then I will also
post instructions for doing a system repair, as there may be some files that
have become corrupted.

First., download and install BHODemon from

Your problem may be caused by a bad BHO.

You only need to uninstall those Service Packs that were installed *after*
installing IE6. You will have to go to the Windows Update and reinstall all
the necessary updates after the rerepair/install.
