I have Word 2002 and I can't open documents by double
clicking mouse or by right click, selecting open.
I can open them by opening Word from Start and clicking
file and open and selecting file from there. Can anyone
help?

Open one folder... no matter which one.
Choose View - Folder Options - and File Types Tab.
Find the Microsoft Word Document under Registered file types.
Click the Edit tab, but do not change anything. Or type a character, then
remove it. Why - Just to "trick" the system, that something is changed. Then
click OK, and close the windows.
Try if Word opens the document. If yes - OK. If no - try this:
Open the same Vire-Folder Options - File types, and write on a paper the
EXACT settings. Then remove the Microsoft Word Document Registered file
type.
The Icon of the .doc files should change - they are no more registered
extention. Now double-click one .doc File. The system will ask you which
application to use when opening such files. Locate the MSWord, chek the box
"Always use that program to open.. (or something like that). Word will open
the document, and the icons will change again to the known Blue W.
If that will not solve the problem, click New Type, and write the settings
from the paper back to the new file type.
I thing it will work... Let us know.

Found it under Tools--Folder Options and File types. I
scrolled down to DOC ext. and it Zone Alarm instead of
MSWord I change that and it worked!! Thank you very much.

Godd thet you have solved the problem.
Yes, the place for Folder options is the Tools menu for Win XP. For Win 98
is in view:)
