I installed the beta and the refresh, and then opened one
of my Outlook XP PST files. No Exchange Server. When I try
to open any of the calendar items or attempt to drag them
to the Calendar container of my new Outlook 2003 PST file,
I get the following error message:

"Can't open this item. Unable to open free/busy
information. Operation failed."

Any idea what is causing this?

Take a look at your mail configuration settings. It
sounds like you have Outlook configured as
Corporate/Workgroup which would require an Exchange Server.

No, CW mode does not require Exchange. Also, Outlook 2002 and 2003 do not
use mail modes.

I don't even see a reference to the mode I'm in--at
least, not in Help > About.

How do you suggest I proceed?

Chris

When I attempted to drag the calendar items from my 2002
PST to my 2003 PST file, I received the "Can't open this
item" error. However, the item appeared to move properly.

I was unable to drag more than one item at a time--
selecting all and dragging produced the error and moved
only one item.

For better or worse, I dragged/moved all ~1000 items
manually. So all of my items are now present in my 2003
PST file and appear to be working properly.

What a task!
