Can't open it "now"? So how were you opening it "before" when Outlook
was not installed on your laptop?

Does outlook.exe show up, even if only momentarily, in Task Manager's
Process tab?

Have you tried loading Outlook in its safe mode ("outlook.exe /safe")?

yes, i was prompted to load outlook in the safe mode. Wat should i do?

Answer "yes" to that prompt and post back with the result. Make sure you
include our Outlook version with your reply.

when i clicked yes, the outlook was opened but in a safe mode ie Microsoft
Outlook (safe mode). Microsoft Outlook I use is 2007. However, if i closed
the Microsoft Outlook (safe mode) and reopen Microsoft Outllook again, the
Microsoft Outlook cannot be opened after that. Can you tell me why.

Every time I open Microsoft Oulook, I am prompted by a message to open
Microsoft in a safe mode. If i click no, Microsoft Outlook will open in a
normal mode. But why am i always prompted by this message.

Also cant find a short cut to put Microsoft Outlook icon on the desktop or
launch menu in the bottom left corner.

Thank you

I use this thread as also I have roblems starting Outlook (2003) on XP H.E.
sp2
I have moved up and down the docs& settings because my HDdrive was full. Now
I moved it back and Outlook does not start; the errors are: cannot start
Outlook. Cannot open folders. The server is not available.
The funny thing is that when I open Outlook via another user on the same
computer I have no problems at all. Also there I moved up& down docs &
settings.

By the way; outlook.exe /safe does the same

Has anyone a solution ?

Some add-in or application you have installed is incompatible with Outlook ,
it appears. Do you run any desktop search tools, any mail scanners, any PDA
sync tools?
Also cant find a short cut to put Microsoft Outlook icon on the

It's easy enough to create one. Why don't you?

You installed an add-on that doesn't work with OL2007 (i.e., it hasn't
be updated yet or is a dead product). I don't use OL2007. In OL2002,
go to Tools -> Options -> Other -> Advanced -> Add-in Manager or COM
plug-ins. See what is installed there. Navigation in OL2007 will
probably be different to see the add-ons.

i can only open my Outlook once, if i close it, i can't open again unless i
restart the laptop. So strange! Can someone help me. I am using Office 2007
(student version), is that the problem?

Hi Tiffany,

Take a look in your Task Manager (Ctrl-Alt-Del) then choose "Processes", if
you see "outlook.exe" running, choose "end process" for all the
outlook.exe's you have running there.

First, you shouldn't need to reboot your PC. Start the Task Manager
(CTRL-Shift-Esc) and select the Processes tab. Look for OUTLOOK.EXE as a
process. If you see it there after you think you've closed Outlook, select
it and click "End Process". Outlook should restart now.

Office 2007 Student and Teacher Edition doesn't include Outlook, so you'll
have to tell us what version of Outlook you're really using. Click
Help>About Microsoft Office Outlook to see.

Hi, I have the same problem using Office 2007, the process seems to remain
running after I close it down. Ending the process manually then allows me to
start up again, but why does it not terminate properly and how can I fix it?

You should review the addins installed, and if you have an intergrated anti
virus, uninstall that, reboot & retest
