OS= Windows XP Pro with SP1

In Outlook 2000 SP3, I can't open any message that has an
attachment. When trying to open a message, it actually
hangs Outlook. Anyone else having this problem?
I have read a TID from Microsoft about one of the latest
security updates that affects Outlook and it sounds like
it "might" be the problem. Please read the TID and reply
to this post with any suggestions you might have.

No, this article doesn't apply as it only blocks access to the attachment
and doesn't hang Outlook (thankfully)

Do you have a virusscanner installed? Disable it and try to open it again
(make sure you can trust the attachment of course -send yourself a txt-file
if you want to make sure). You might want to make sure you ran the updates
for your anti-virus program as well and not just updated the virus
definitions.

Please post back your findings!

We are running McAfee 7.0 on our XP systems. This problem
is happening on a number of systems in our offices. All
Windows XP and McAfee updates are supplied automatically
by or own Windows 2000 "update" server and are installed
invisibily on each workstation. I have sent a user a
simple .TXT file and she could not open it. Not only could
she not open the attachment, but she can't do anything at
all with the message either. She can't even forward the
message (without opening it first) to anyone because
Outlook stops responding and has to be shutdown by doing
an "End Task". Any email message that does NOT have an
attachment works fine....only the ones WITH an attachment
cause the problem.
