In the last month, I have not been able to open email links. The message is
"This operation has been canceled due to restrictions in effect
on this computer. Contact System admin" I tried remedies from previous
posting with no help. I thought it might be from Symantec security, but
uninstalled with out helping. There was a reference to a corrupt registry
key on other messages, but have no clue how to repair. Any suggestions?

Thanks,

MikeG

If Internet Explorer is your web browser, open it and click Tools>Internet
Options>Programs>Reset Web Settings.

I also have been having difficulty opening links in my emails and tried to
follow the suggestoin posted. I was able to get as far as tools>internet
options>programs but then did not see anything that said "reset web
settings".... any suggestions?

For IE7, it's on the Advanced tab, not the Programs tab.

Hi Mike,
I'm having the same problem as Brian only with Outlook 2000 (which I just
reloaded because of a problem with another application). I went to IE (I have
version 6) tools and tried to reset web settings but I got a message saying
Unable to reset web settings. Have I blocked myself somehow somewhere else?

I was having this problem and found this forum on Google.

I solved the problem by changing my default browser and then changing it back again to the one I was using when the problem occurred. :!:

Hi Mike,
I have had this problem for a month, but have found a quick cure
for myself and maybe you and anybody else. If you have deleted google chrome
just reload it. For some reason it effects the outlook browser. Hope it works.

Right, well uninstall it again, because it's crap anyway, and follow these
directions.

1. Click Start, click Run, type Regedit in the Open box, and then click OK.

2. Locate the following subkey:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Classes\.html

3. Right click the (Default) value for the .html key and select Modify

4. Change the value from "ChromeHTML" to "htmlfile"

Done!
