When I double click on a jpeg or tif file in Outlook, it
opens a grey box. If I save the file, go to my documents
and then open it, it will open the picture.

What changes do I need to make to be able to open the
file directly from e-mail?

Thanks!

That's a security feature implemented by Microsoft after legions of
oozers indiscriminately clicked on every attachment they received per
e-mail, causing viruses to be spread. _IF_ you want to remove this
feature, and I'm not saying you should, please go to any Explorer (not
Internet Explorer) window first, go up to the Menu Bar
(File/Edit/View), go to Tools, Folder Options, click on the View tab
(it's between General and File Types) and uncheck Hide extensions for
known file types).
Then go to Outlook Express, Tools, Options, Security, uncheck "Do not
allow attachments...".

Rene, thank you for the help. I was able to uncheck
hide extensions; however, I use Outlook 2002 and don't
see the "do not allow..." check box on the security tab
(which I did find). I tried going to Outlook Express,
however the "do not allow..." is not checked there. I
have not yet rebooted, but as of yet, still can't open
the .jpg attachments. Any suggestions?

Thanks.

Ah, I see. Seeing how you asked your question in this group and not in
a Office-related one, I assumed you meant Outlook Express.

I wish I could help, but I've recently upgraded to Office 2003, and
especially Outlook is a huge improvement over the previous versions.
The security settings are much more powerful and configurable (if
that's a word) than in Outlook 2002. I've basically already forgotten
how to configure the '02 version :(
