Deleting files/folders to remove a program
is not a good idea...it's always best to use
Add-Remove programs.
Might be worth a try to do a System Restore
if you have a restore point dated before the
problems began.

Since you already have SP2, you should have
Movie Maker 2.1.

Also it may be worth a try to reinstall SP2.

Generally, users install from the net but this
site allows you to download the complete
file to your hard drive before installing.
It's good for a network administrator because
you can burn it on a CD and install it on as
many computers as you need to.
And it's good for a single machine because
if you ever need to install it again...you'll have
it available without waiting for a download.
