Can't open images saved from internet

When I try to open the saved image file, get an error message: Paint cannot read file...not valid bitmep or not supported. What do I have to do to open image files saved from internet?

Usually pictures or images of sort go to ,my pictures,or documents,or deskto
first.When you R.click the image,save in,browse or type in desktop,when your
ready to edit,open paint,file-new document,let paint search for it.
 
So Paint is telling you it wants to open files of the type .bmp (bitmap).
OK, save the file as a .bmp instead of a .jpeg.
