I have a folder on my desktop that I keep music and other
files in and use with peer to peer sharing apps. as a
shareing folder. The folder content is about 4G. Somthing
happend, now the folder will not open from anywhere. When
I try to open it XP message says "cannot open: Incorect
function" or, XP will say "The disk in drive C: is not
formated. Do you want to format Y\N". C: is my hard disk.
Yet the files that are in this folder can play on Media
player 9.0. While playing in WMP, the folder in question
is listed in the file path. So I ran disk defrag and a
few of the files in that folder came up bad but still
can't open it. I can't delete it or move it but can
rename or copy. Is ther anyone that can give me a clue
about this problem?

Hi Jeff,

Start/run cmd

Run chkdsk C: /r

You wil lbe prompted about not being able to dismount the drive, this is
normal (you can't dismount as you are currently using the system). Follow
the prompts to schedule the system check for when the system is rebooted.
Then reboot. See if this helps.
