that's what happens when clicking on some folders in Favorites pane, other
folders open ok. a problem folder eventually does open but it takes like
several minutes. WinXP SP2, all the latest updates. and it gets worse every
day. more folders become inaccessible.

at the same time using Favorites from the IE's main menu works all right.
fast and easy folder browsing.

Hi Richard :-)

Try the following and see if it helps:

Clear the Temporary Internet Files and delete Cookies.

The Favorites folder may be corrupted and you need to create a new one.

Create a new Favorites folder as per the instructions here
http://inetexplorer.mvps.org/archive/answers3.htm#favorites

Hope this helps.

i exported favorites and cookies, deleted all files in these folders, then
imported everything back. it didn't help. nor did deleting temporary files. i
also tried importing favorites only (without cookies) - same result.

Hi Richard :-)

If you have any 3rd party toolbars such as Google, MSN, Yahoo disable them.
If you have Yahoo Companion, uninstall it.

If you have any 3rd party ad or popup blockers disable them.

Disable email scanning by your anti-virus application. It provides no
additional protection and even Symantec says it's not necessary:
If I disable Email Scanning Is my computer still protected against viruses

If still no joy,

XP

You will need to uninstall WinXP SP2 from Control Panel -> Add/Remove
Programs and then reinstall Service Pack 2. Follow the information here:

Hope this helps.
