Hi everyone. I have 3 txt only documents that i haven't opened for a while which were created originally using microsoft software which has since expired. I cannot open them now as i don't seem to have anything to read the .doc or .wps files, i'm running vista home premium. Thanks in advance for any help.

You can download Open Office (which is free) and open those Word and Wordperfect files:

since i selected open office as the default program to open them with it doesn't even come up with an error, you can see the computer thinking/working and trying to do it, but doesn't even say it can't now, just stops thinking about it and nothing happens
