I created a database for a book library about a year ago in Access 2003. I
cannot open it now because I get the warning that I do not have the authority
to open the database and that I need to contact the System Administrator or
the creator to allow me access. I created it and did not put any blocks on
it.

What can I do now to open it? I have changed all the USER IDs to
administrative users but I can't think of anything else.

Thank you for your help

I created it and did not put any blocks on it.

By "any blocks", are you saying that you did not establish a database
password, or implement Access User Level Security (ULS)? Are you able to open
any other database on your PC? If the answer is no, then you may have a
corrupted System.mdw file. Which version of Access are you using (including
service pack level)?

What is the exact text of the message that you are seeing? Check to see if
you find the message in this list:

If the answer is yes, you *may* have a corrupt database.

The message I get is:
You do not have the necessary permission to use the
c:\documentsandsettings\alc\Mydocuments\bookinventory.mdb. object. Have your
system administrator or the person who created this object establish the
appropriate permissions for you.

I did not see this on the list you sent me. Thank you.
