This is a repost as we still have the problem and didn't get any
replies.....

This is in Outlook 2003 running on an XP Pro system, with all updates
applied.

Whenever one of our users tries to Open a contact (to change details),
an error message is given saying Outlook will need to quit.
Interestingly, it doesn't quit, just returing straight to the mail
Inbox.

All other aspects of Contacts seem to work (you can use it to address
e-mails, etc, etc.).

I've tried varying the properties settings for the address book.

I've also tried repairing Office, and de-installing and re-installing
Outlook, but makes no difference.

The MS Support website describes a similar error but it only refers to
Office XP and there are dire warnings on only applying the fix if you
have that problem.

Any ideas anyone?

TIA,

You didn't mention the type of account, if the user is connecting to an
Exchange server or is using an ISP and a PST. If using a PST, try scanning it
for errors.

Another troubleshooting step is if this is a network with domain
authentication, have the user log onto a different PC and see if the problem
follows them or not.
Also, try recreating the Outlook profile. You could also delete the
ntuser.dat file but you will have to delete the NT profile which means you
want to ensure the user has no data saved to the C drive. Everything will
have to be recreated; desktop shortcuts, Outlook profile, etc.

Thank-you. Its a standalone user with .pst file so will try the repair
utility.
