Running Outlook 2003 on WinXP. If I click on the "To..." button in a new
mail to bring up my contacts, I get an error messagebox saying "The address
list could not be displayed. The Contacts folder associated with this
address list could not be opened; it may have been moved or deleted, or you
do not have permissions." However, I can open Contacts without any problem
from the main Outlook window, and see all the addresses there, and if I
start typing a name from my contacts into the address bar for the new mail,
it autocompletes the name for me, so the contacts are obviously there and
available.

Any suggestions on a fix?

right click on the contacts folders and choose properties. check to make
sure it's checked to be an outlook address book. Then open tools, address
book. look on it's tools, options tab. remove all of the contacts folders
and add them back.
