I copies an access file onto a thumbnail from work and then put them on my
desktop at home on my laptop.

when i go to open the access database file on my home laptop, i keep getting
a promt that says:
"C:\----\----.mdb is not a valid path. Make sure youre connected to the
server on which the file resides."

What server??? There is no server at work. Its a stand-alone computer.
How do I make sure the path is valid? and what is the valid path??? if its
on the desktop of my laptop, why is it trying to find the file on the C
drive? HELP!

Probably the database you copied needs the mdb file named in the error
message in order to function (e.g. it may contain the data for linked
tables). If so, you'll need to copy both of them, and you may also need to
make adjustments (e.g. re-link the linked tables) if the folder names on the
two computers are different.

And remember that "Desktop" is not an actual location: files on your desktop
are usually in a folder like this:
C:\Documents and Settings\UserNameHere\Desktop
