can't move icons on desktop

Hi there,

I have windows xp prof. When I try and relocate icons on
my desktop they snap back to a default. Where is the
settin to change this. I want to be able to move them
around and not have them snap back.

Yuk, right click the desktop, Arrange Icons - unrick Auto Arrange
 
Right click on your desktop

Then go to Arrange Desktop By

Disable Auto Arrange
