I have 2 machines running Win2000 and 1 XP machine that
are off site users of a network. The server is running
Win2000 server. I have configured their email to use the
hosts file to communicate with exchange, and used the
server external IP to map their clients' work folder.

ex.\\xxx.xx.xxx.xxx\name of folder

The 2000 client machines and the server got hit with the
MSBlaster.exe worm. Patches have been installed and all
is well in the office. However, when these users attempt
to connect from their offsite location (using Cable or DSL
connections) their emails and mapped drives can not be
resolved. However, when I configured one of these
computers with a dial up (56K connection) I can get to
their email and mapped drive without a problem. Can
ANYONE tell me what may be causing these machines to not
connect to the server on their broadband connection? I am
completely stumped.

You on a domain(s) or workgroup? Try remapping again and
connect as "domainname/username", or better yet use "net
use".
