I am using Compaq Presario V3500 Notebook PC with AMD Athlon(tm) 64X2
TK-55 1.8Ghz.
But whenever i going to use TurboC++, after double clicking the icon
shortcut screeen goes blank for 4-5 seconds and desktop reappears as
it is. Which version of C compiler should I've to use for my notebook.
Please inform me quickly as I've exams within coming month.

Have you tried opening it from start, all programs ?

If Turbo C++ isn't going to work for you, consider the free download of MS
Visual C++ 2008 Express edition - perfectly fine for student use.

Try installing (free) Cygwin, and unclick default on top level
install option, to install everything (unless you want to be
selective); it gives you a pretty full linux running under XP,
including the usual gcc.

I'd find XP unliveable without it.

I don't know that they have a visual c++ however.
