John, thank you for responding.
The same thing happens when I import the clips via File / Import into
collections.
Slowing the speed doesn't help.
I don't have the divxaf.ax file on my computer.
However, I did find :
claud.ax -- I changed it to claud1.ax
clvsd.ax -- I changed it to clvsd1.ax
ksproxy.ax and l3codecx.ax -- I did not change them, because they are
trusted filters in 2.1
wtwmplug.ax -- Found 2 files -- I changed them to wtwmplug1.ax and
wtwmplug2.ax
After all of this, the same thing happens.

Long shot...but some users have reported
problems after installing IE7. If this applies
to your situation ...uninstalling IE7 may be
worth a try.

Would it help to remove the Movie Maker and re-install??
==================================
Movie Maker 2.1 is installed as a component
of Win XP SP2...there is no way to simply
uninstall Movie Maker and reinstall it. And...
it probably wouldn't make much difference
anyway.
==================================
I've been on this for weeks and I would really like to fix it. Is
there a Microsoft Expert I can talk to in person?
==================================
I'm not sure if you could contact support
for a Movie Maker issue but I do think the
expense would be prohibitive.
For E-mail and /or Phone Support...
try the link below and maybe you can
figure a way to discuss Movie Maker:

Or what do you recommend when nothing
works?? Thank You Again, George

Maybe you could try reinstaling SP2...and
hopefully someone else will offer some advice.
Download Windows XP SP2

Generally, users install from the net but this
site allows you to download the complete
file to your hard drive before installing.
It's good for a network administrator because
you can burn it on a CD and install it on as
many computers as you need to.
And it's good for a single machine because
if you ever need to install it again...you'll have
it available without waiting for a download.
