Can't Make Contacts An Address Book In OL2003

Just upgraded (?) to VISTA 32 bit and used the Migration Wizard. I see all
the contacts in Outlook 2003, but can't make it act as my address book (i.e.
click on "To" in an email and it comes up blank).

I've selected the Address Book > Properties > Outlook Address Book tab. But
the checkbox for "Show this folder as an email Address Book" is ghosted and
can't be selected.

Any help would be very much appreciated.

you'll need to make a new profile - the old profile is corrupt from the
migration.

Thank you, Diane.

Can you point me anywhere to understand user things? Help file says "A user
profile is different from a user account". But then describes how to "Fix a
corrupted user profile" by creating new user accounts.

I'm lost.

PS: Probably for another forum, but is it no longer possible to set a
'bookmark' in the Help files? I'll never find this place again.

Thank you, Brian.

I've deleted and created the profile and I'm importing email that's taking a
long while. Maybe I could also go back to the Migration Wizard and try again.
Migrate just the Outlook data.

But I get confused about users there too. I seem to remember having to
select between two user accounts (one with my full name, the other as
Administrator). When I was getting the data onto the new machine, it asked
what I wanted to do with these two accounts.

"John Ciccone" went to "John Ciccone", but "Administrator" didn't have an
equivalent as an option in the dropdown box... but I entered "Administrator"
anyway.

Clearly I have no idea what all these accounts and profiles are. From the
above, does it look like I created the problem during the migration process?
(I remember doing it this way on another machine update with no problems.)

Never export or import Outlook data when transferring it between two Outlook
instances. There's a better than even chance you'll corruipt the mail
profile and you WILL lose data. Just reuse any existing PSTs.

Where did you see these two selections? During the initial install? If so,
Outlook may be detecting the accounts in Outlook Express. It's hard to say
without a clear description.

After a number of uninstalls/reinstalls/delete-create profiles etc. and going
back to other PST's, I've ended up with a bunch of dialog boxes whenever I
try to run Outlook... or select Mail (i've posted separately).

But Email Accounts and settings do not show up. Is there any way of
importing that into OL3?

No, you need to create the accts yourself - while you can export them from
the registry of the old system, doing so often results in corrupt profiles.
