Hi all,

I installed a program that was supposed to keep my
XP Home machine "clean" from files that are loaded
from the Internet. After the install, now all the
computer does is show the logon screen where I
type in my name and password and then as soon as
the desktop appears, a window called
"User Environment" pops up and says:

Windows can not load the users profile
but has logged you on with the default
profile for the system.

DETAIL - A required privilege is not held
by the client.

The computer counts down from 30 seconds and just
reboots. I can't get around this. I have even
done a partial re-install of Windows and that didn't
get rid of it. Am I doomed to FDISK and re-FORMAT
the drive? What is this and how do I get rid of
it without clobbering my system?

thanks,
charles.......

Create a new profile and copy the data from old to new profile:

When you are certain all data is OK, the old profile can be safely
deleted.

Generally applications such as that are no good since the Windows
native tools can usually do the job.
Stay away from them unless you can recognize when something is wrong.

Your suggested solution assumes that I can log on to the computer,
and I can't since it reboots after 30 seconds of showing the
desktop. Before the reboot, nothing works, getting into the
task manager, getting the run command, nothing.

charles....

PS My solution will be to wipe the drive with zeros and
repartition and reformat if nothing better comes along.
