Hi
After downloading MASA yesterday, my pc crashed when I
went to run the program.
Now when it boots up, it gets to the windows login page,
but only shows the logo and hangs. Therefore, I'm unable
to get into system to try and restore.
I've checked BIOS settings and they seem fine, I've tried
all the options under 'F8' key and they all do the same.
I've tried pressing 'Esc' on this screen but nothing
happens. I'm getting desperate as my daughter is in the
middle of her A-level's revision/exams.
Anybody got any clues?

If the PC is under warranty, call those folks and ask them to help you.
If not, call this number:

If your problem is Virus or Security patch related:
In the United States or Canada, call 1-866-PCSAFETY
MS will provide free support for those issues.

I would neglect to say anything about MSAS to either of these folks - it's
beta software and you were warned to NOT install it on an important
computer. Most users neglect to tell the helpdesk what they really did
anyway so don't feel especially guilty.

If you know anyone PC INCLINED, ask them to build you a BartPE boot CD and
see if they can clean things up for you that way.

OTHERWISE, it may be reformat and reinstall time.

Thanks for replying.

I'm afraid it's outside warranty and I'm in the UK, do you
know of any numbers for this side of the pond?

I haven't seen any specific phone numbers, but a regional Microsoft Support
number might be able to re-direct your call. I'll have a look around again
and see if I find a number for you.

John

Many thanks again for the reply, I'll certainly go through
your procedure if I get into my pc again.
I didn't think I was running too bad lately as I
use 'adaware', 'spyware doctor' & 'spybot' every week. I
only downloaded the Microsoft antispyware program on
recommendation from my neighbour who raving about it!!

Cheers

Have you tried to repair the system? You didn't mention the version of
Windows you have, but procedure for 2000/XP/2003 is almost the same. Please
take a look at this

Thanks for replying.
I'm running Windows XP home edition. The trouble is with
trying to reset windows, is again that I can't get past
the logo screen even in 'Safe mode'.
I do have a 'Mesh' recovery disk, so will get in touch
woth them when I get home from work.
