my problem has multiple layers:
first, i am able to browse using internet explorer, but i am not able to
type on any page. that is, i can type in the address bar, but not anywhere
else (eg; can't log onto email, etc.)
second, after dumping my browser cache, deleting cookies, defraging my
computer, rebooting in vain, i tried to run a system scan using norton
antivirus, but kept getting an "internal error" message and was unable to do
a scan. after executing both tips given by norton support (ie; install
windows script 5.6, uninstall/reinstall norton), neither problem was cured.
i tried uninstalling norton to see if that would help my explorer problem,
but it didn't.
i also tried running the DOS system scan, but this also didn't solve anything.
third, when trying to use outlook express to contact this newsgroup, i was
unable to even open the application.
i'm at a total loss! are these problems interconnected? if certain files
are corrupted, is there something i can do to recover them without
reinstalling windows 2000? how can i avoid this in the future? any feedback
would be greatly appreciated.
