can't log on to xp professional after restoration

I restored my home computer (Dell) and since than it keeps
telling me that my password and user name is incorrect. It
also started counting my attempts at logging on. It went 1
thrue 10 and now has started the alphabet. A friend of
mine said that if I hits attempt D it will disable my
mother board, is this true and how do I fix this?
 
Well, you could log in as an Administrator and change your user password to something else. Make
sure you either remember the new password or write it down and store it in a safe and secure place.
