I'm running a Windows 2000 Server SP4 with Exchange 2000
SP3. This server is also a domain controller. I am logged
in as the administrator, and for some reason I can't log
off. When I go to start, log off, the screen grays, but
nothing happens. A keypress or mouseclick just returns the
screen to normal (from grayed out).
More disturbingly, ctrl-alt-del does nothing. I can still
access the task manager, but that doesn't help much. I've
done a thorough virusscan with the latest def updates, and
checked the registry for any extraneous services or run
keys, and everything seems to check out OK.
I've also checked the security settings (domain security,
domain controller security, and local security policies)
for anything abnormal, and I can't see anything out of the
ordinary for things such as logon locally, but i'm not an
expert on what settings to check.
I'd hate to reboot only to find out that i can't even log
in (since ctrl-alt-del isn't working right now). Has
anyone seen this before? Is there a service I can stop and
restart that might remedy the problem? Any insight would
be greatly appreciated...
