I have been using Win 98. My computer was just
reformatted and is now Win 2000 Professional. I was going
through fine reinstalling all programs from CD. I think I
then installed a program (not thinking) that was not for
Win 2000. The program did not have an uninstall and was
not in the add/remove programs, so I deleted the folder,
its icon and from the registery. Since that time, if I
try to load a program via the CD, the CD opens and asks if
I want to install. When I hit yes, it shows the hourglass
for a second, then totally disappears. I have tried to
load also via add/remove programs and via start run, and
get the same thing. I can see the drive and all the files
on the CD in explorer. I even tried closing two things in
task manager that my computer upgrade guy told me to. I
can't think what the one was called but the second one,
just below it in the list, was WOW, or something, which he
said shouldn't be there because it was for 16-bit or
something...
I hope someone knows what I did and can help me.. I spent
all day yesterday reloading all my programs and data and I
sure hope I don't have to scrap all that and start over..
Thanks for any help.
