Can't load Norton AntiVirus 2005 Trialware

I'm trying to download Norton AntiVirus 2005 Trialware, which takes
about 10 minutes to download, leaving me an exe file on my desktop.
When I try to install it, a get a lot of text gunk, not pure html, just
a lot of gobblydygook with maybe some html. At the top of this mess it
says it "needs to be run on WIN32," & I'm clueless about what that
means. Have been having the same problem anytime I try to download a
program. I use windows ME. Any help...anyone? Thanks--
