Hi all,
I just installed the first Windows XP (Home) PC in our
home network, but from the very first startup and
configuration, the PC claims it can't find the startup
profile and loads the "generic" profile instead. As a
result, none of the network connections (i.e. to the
printer, which is connected to a different PC in the
network) are established and I have to reinstall the
printer driver every time I reboot.

I've tried adding and deleting other user accounts for the
PC, but nothing works. I'm at the end of my rope. Can
anyone help?

Thanks,
Jeff Zalkind

See if this helps: "Error Message: Windows Cannot Load Your Profile
Because It May Be Corrupted"

Unless you have Automatic Logon setup, there is no default profile in
Windows XP. User accounts with damaged registries will also fail to load
and Windows will provide a "temporary account."

Log on with an account in the Administrator group. Create a user account
for every day use.

If you have Pro, log on to the built in account named "Administrator" by
pressing Ctrl+Alt+Del twice at the welcome screen. Type in the password
created during the installation of XP. If XP came preinstalled and you have
not assigned a password to the builtin Administrator account, leave the
password field blank.

If you have XP Home, boot to Safe Mode and log on with User name:
Administrator and leave password blank (unless you have added one - then
use that password instead).
