Can't load CD's or DVD's since previous disk is displayed

I need help in finding out why I can't get my CD's & DVD's recognized by
my PC. Even though I have my 'd' drive set to auto start nothing
happens. I then try going in either 'Explorer' or through the start
'run' method. In both ways I end up getting the same result. The files
that are displayed are not for the disk in the drive but instead I'm
seeing the files listed for the disk that I just took out of my PC.

Does anyone know whats happening & how I can fix this problem?
 
Click the My Computer icon on desktop and rightclick the CD drive and
click Properties, then the AutoPlay tab. There you can set to what action
you want to take.

I've done that but auto play still won't work. Any more ideas?
