MS,

I have a client that has a new XP Pro machine. I want to
join the company domain. However, the options to change
the workgroup or domain are greyed out.

If you click on My Network Places, no computers show up.

Also, I can Ping the server. However, if I go to FIND
the "SERVER" , The server cannot be found.

If I do a RUN command \\server\C$ That fails also.

No firewall software running on the machine.

Any ideas?

There is probably more than one problem here, so I've replied inline:

Are you logging on with a local Administrator account?
Only an Administrator can perform this.

This sounds like a name resolution issue.

( you don't say whether the domain is NT or win2k )
Can you ping the server by IP address and name:

ping 192.168.0.200
ping servername

and if it's a win2k domain, ping the FQDN:

ping servername.yourdomain.com

These should all work.

Post back with the results.

Yes - Logged on as Admin local. Since I can't join the
domain, the local admin account is the only access to the
machine.

I can ping the server both by name and by IP. The server
is a windows 2000 Server AD running SP6
