Can't install windows 2000 professional = > multiple error messages

I'm hoping someone can give me some leads on why I am not able to
complete my Windows 2000 Professional install.

I tried to install Windows NT 4.0, but NT wouldn't recognize the
cd-rom. So now I'm trying to install 2000 pro.

During the install I get the error message that setup can not copy the
following files from the cd (this is the second cd I've tried):

d3dref.dll
danim.dll
daxctle.ocx
desk.cpl
devenum.dll
dpserial.dll
dvdplay.exe
faxdrv.dll
faxui.dll
instndi5.dll
mdhcp.dll
mshtmled.dll
msvbvm50.dll
msvbvm60.dll
msvcp50.dll
mswdat10.dll
msxml.dll
netcfgx.dll
netplwiz.dll
scsiport.sys
sdpblb.dll
tshoot_w.chq
twain_32.dll
typelib.dll
udfs.sys
ufat.dll
lnkstub.exe

I skipped all these files. Then I get this error:
\systemroot\system32\drivers\fastfat.sys couldn't be copied. error
status was 0xc0000221

It reboots, I go through the gyrations and it now "could not load
installer for nettrans. contact the hardware vendor". Same thing for
infrared, netservice, netclient and net.

Now it acts like it wants to load windows and then it reboots again.
It'll reboot every time just before it goes into windows.

I'm guessing there is a video card issue here.

Any suggestions?

Really? I'd have said a CD-Rom issue, or an IDE controller issue.

Have you checked the bios to ensure that both your hard drive and CD-Rom are
correctly detected there? Are there any problems with the cabling and
connections for either of them (is the cabling in good condition, up to
specification, etc?)
