can't install win xp

when i run win xp setup, at the end of copying files it
says " can't copy from specified path", and when i reboot
my computer and run win xp setup it says "hal.dll missing
or corrupt"
help me

I would try installing windows XP not from your old
Windows enviroment. I would enter the BIOS and and have
the computer start from the Windows XP cd. you can do this
by (depending of model) entering your bios setting and
telling it to boot from "CD-ROM" drive. once you do this.
you can install Windows XP after the computer completes
it's POST (power on Self test) if you want to keep your
existing Windows Files; make sure you click "Save Current
Windows Enviroment" if you want to ever uninstall again
and go back into your old Windows Enviroment.
