Hi
I have successfully downloaded the Beta 2 (build 5384 64-bit edition) after
three days of trying, and burned it to DVD.
The DVD boots fine and I get to the Install Now stage, but after that it
stops with the message "Cannot get information about your hard disks" and
then returns to the install now screen.
I have:-
amd64 2800+
Gigabyte GA-K8NS Nforce 3 250
1Gig RAM
2x80Gb SATA (RAID 0)
1x120GB IDE
GeForce 6600GT 128mb

I am trying to install on a partition on the IDE drive (55Gb NTFS), and I
have tried it with RAID enabled and disabled, but I just get the same error
every time.
Grateful for any help - thanks ;)

try reburning the ISO at a low speed, 2x recommended, also do a CRC check on
the ISO to find out its integrity. Nero MD5 Verifier is a recommended
choice. If setup still fails, its likely a bad download. You can also
extract the contents of the ISO to a folder in XP and launch setup from
there.

I use the one from Ahead Nero
http://ww2.nero.com/nero6/eng/Nero_MD5_Verifier.html

Here are the MD5/CRC values for x86 or x64 depending on which every ISO you
downloaded:

x86
- File Size = 3.12 GB (3,355,598,848 bytes)
- CRC Value = 0x67E089E0
- MD5 Value = 0E733AB1A8E8FF9A8684FD3639332773
x64
- File Size = 4.01 GB (4,309,368,832 bytes)
- CRC Value = 0x48697711
- MD5 Value = E43502D0A15EADD551119D5639859E04

Paste the MD5 Checksum for either x64 or x86 depending on which one you want
check in Step 1, Step 2 - Browse to where you stored the ISO on your drive
and open it and it will automatically start the varification process and
generate the has in the third field, if it matches Step 1, then you are
safe.

just out of curiosity, how common are errors in dvd burning? I've never had
any problems, even when burning at 16x.

"Cannot get information about your hard disks" too. My A8N board will do a
raid the Nforce 4 or on a seperate Silicone Image 3114 chip. Neither seems
to support a raid for vista?!? They did when x64 pro came to betas.

having the same "Cannot get information about your hard disks" problems,
although i'm not using a raid system, but a Nfocre 4 chipset.
