After about 20 minutes of installation time, all of a sudden I get a
message that a file cannot be copied/installed (NO mention of file)
and installation quits. Now when I start the computer up I get a
screen that forces me to select either continue update or go to
earlier version of windows (listed as a windows boot manager) - would
like to get ride of this as it defaults to windows setup and then it
cannot continue.

Obviously if I could get Vista installed there wouldnt be a problem,
I removed the files that were suggested with Vista compatibility. Now
I wish I had not tried this, but I bought 2 other copies for other
computers! Dell 9300 with Windows Media Center XP.

Actually, the message is :"windows installation cannot continue
because a required driver could not be installed"; this occurs during
the expanding files part of installation. As mentioned there is no
mention of the driver name, and the results of the installation are
not saved.

using the BIOS, disable all devices not needed for install.
like extra drives, usb, serial/parallel ports.
and for sure disable over clocking.
try again.
once the installation is complete, use the BIOS to enable all the turned off devices.

Same problem still occurs at the same time in the installation process. Any
other suggestions?? Thanks
