Can't Install USB Camera

Until today, when I placed my digital camera into it's
dock connected to my WinXP Home machine, it would be
detected and picture download would start automatically.
However, I had to re-install the Hewlett-Packard photo
software package and now when I place my camera in the
dock, I'm presented with an error message that
reads "Cannot install this hardware. An error occurred
during installation of the device. The required section
was not found in the INF." This is very disturbing
because the camera was working normally 2 hours ago. I
checked the HP web site for guidance...nothing. I made no
changes to my computer or the camera...just re-installed
the HP photo software package. Can anyone provide
guidance? I have no problem modifying files or the
registry. Any help would be appreciated. Thank you.

Why did you have to reinstall the HP Software? I would remove everything
connected with the Camera and start over.
Remove the Software from Add/Remove Programs in Control Panel and remove
the USB device entries in Device Manager. Just rt click on them and choose
uninstall. Restart and let WinXP reinstall them.

Just uninstalled the software and every USB device entry
in Device Manager. WinXP picked them all up on restart.
Re-installed the software. Same problem...when I attach
my camera, I get the same error message I describe below.

I upgraded the Version 1.2 software to Version 2.0, which
had some bugs that rendered certain functions unusable.
Uninstalled V2, reinstalled V1.2, and this problem
started. What's wierd is that I went through this same
software upgrade, uninstall, reinstall cycle just recently
with no adverse affect.

I'm getting nervous now. I'm open for any suggestions.
Thanks for the help.
