I just bought a maxtor 80 Gb serial ATA drive, and am
trying to install winXP onto it. I have tried installing
98 onto this drive (no problem) and then upgrading to XP,
but I just perpetually get the blue screen telling me
there is a problem with my harddrive.
Right now, I have my new drive and my old drive in my
computer. XP is installed on my old drive, and it
recognizes my new serial ATA drive just fine. I have
tried to install XP onto this new drive, and it starts out
OK, but after the first restart, when the setup program
starts, it doesn't recognize the new drive. Despite
choosing the option to pick the drive/partition to install
to during setup, the only option available is my old drive.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

You need to follow the instructions as they relate to RAID set up/install
