Joe

I have just tried to install Virus Scan onto my windows
2000 server but it tells me that it is not compatible with
this OS. What version do I need for a server or will I
need a separte package?

Thanks.

Very few AV products support S or AS as the typical loading patterns of
servers make AV fun (lots of non-local traffic to watch, heavy service-based
file ops and so on). Trend (www.antivirus.com) do 'ServerProtect' which
likes 2000 S, AS and 2003 but we've not found much else that's up to the
task (some things work, but they let stuff through)

Nice that Zone Alarm Pro works on AS though, despite claiming not to.

You need to ensure that you are using the correct
version. My company has a enterprise license with NAI and
we use EPO which can be used to push the install to
servers. The correct NAI product will work on Windows
2000 Server.

You need NetShield 4.5.1 (the 'server' product that sisters the
'workstation' VirusScan)
Or the latest version VirusScan Enterprise v7.0 runs on BOTH workstation and
server.

On a side note, as VirusScan v4.5.1 is over 2 years old, you will be out of
licence and have to buy a new licecence, (NAI only sold 1 or 2 year licences
back then) unless you have fully paid up maintence subscription on this
product. In which case you should have a GRANT NUMBER with which you can
login to the NAI web site and download the latest versions.
