Hello -

I am running Office 2003 (standard edition) on Windows 2000. Office 2003 is
a full version - not an upgrade. I am trying to install Frontpage 2003 (also
a full version), but get Error message 1608 saying that "setup could not
locate a version of Microsoft Office 97, 2000 or XP..." etc.

All of my searches have resulted in answers regarding upgrade versions,
which I don't have, meaning that I don't have an Office 2000 or 97 disc to
use.

If someone could provide a suggestion or a link I might've missed, I'd
really appreciate the help.

Thanks in advance,
Coop

Are you sure your FrontPage 2003 CD isn't an upgrade CD??

Thanks for your reply, Steve. I'm an idiot. Although it doesn't say Upgrade
anywhere on the box, I double-checked and found it on the disc itself. I
guess I must've bought FP 2000 and forgot. Sorry.

Don't feel bad. You're not the first and you surely won't be the last to have this
happen.

Usually the carton does (or should) say "upgrade" - it's not just a
stickeron the outside shrink-wrap either.

I have a copy of FP 2003 Upgrade and it clearly states:

"Upgrade: This software will only install if you are a liceensed user of a
previou Microsoft Office Product."

andit lists on the side of the box the upgradeable products - eg the Office
editions that did come "with Frontpage" and Frontpage editions back to FP
97.

Hi Andrew -

I no longer have the cardboard carton, just the plastic box that holds the
CD. (I'm reinstalling software on a new hard drive after the old one
crashed.)

While "Frontpage 2003" and its features are noted everywhere, nowhere on it
does it say anything about it being an upgrade. The only upgrade language is
on the CD itself. Although I admit my eyesight isn't what it used to be, the
labeling on those CDs pretty hard to read.

Thanks for the input.

- Coop
