Can't install Fax

I choose add/remove windows components, uncheck all currently checked options
and check the fax option only. When start the Setup process, I get the
following message:

"Setup was unable to build the list of files to copy for MSN Explorer. The
specific error code is 0xe0000102. Setup will continue but the component may
not function properly."

Well, I don't mind that, I already have Explorer installed. But now I want
fax. Why does the message refer to Explorer when I removed the check from
that box?

I decide to proceed anyway. The Setup deletes a bunch of files and then
tells me to insert the XP disk. I do this, but when I try to proceed I only
get a beep. Apparently Setup wants to copy files from D:\i386 and it mentions
fxscfgwz.dll. When I afterwards look on the disk, sure enough the file is
there. But the beep seems to mean that Setup is not finding it. Then the
procedure aborts.

Can someone please tell me what I have to do differently in order to install
the fax program?

Try installing xp cd,then select, other options, then select windows components,
install from the xp cd.The other problem might be that the cdrom has the
wrong
letter associated with it,to chk,go to run, type:regedit In
regedit,expand,HKEY_
LOCAL_MACHINE,software,microsoft,windows,set-up,then open source path.
See if the cdrom shown has the letter as in my computer,if not,L.click on
it,go
to edit, modify, change the letter, then close out regedit, restart computer.

You went wrong in the very first line. DO NOT uncheck all the currently
checked options. That will have the effect of uninstalling them.
