Can't install ANY Windows components...

Hey guys

I'm having a major hassle with my PC. First off, it's a Toshiba laptop
that came with an i386 folder on the root of the hard drive. The only
disc it came with is a recovery DVD.

It may also be worth noting that I have upgraded the HDD in my laptop
(by cloning the old drive to the new).

Could this have affected Windows' ability to read from the i386 folder?

I'm getting the dreaded 'Copy error' that springs up when the Windows
Component install wizard can't supposedly find the required files
(which are on my damn HDD!).

I know there is a patch available from MS for this, but I've tried it
and had no luck.

How can I fix this?

I used something called Paragon Drive Backup Personal 8. I've used it
before, to much success.

My system works otherwise, I just can't add any Windows components :-(

Looks like I might have to go the route of running the esentutl.exe
utility...
