Go say hi then try again

Once again I have to point out you are more than welcome to come and post a problem and search for help

What is annoying IMO and i'm sure others too that have been here a while, are people that come straight in and almost demand an answer for their problem in their first post and dont even post a Hi in newcomers section

As harsh as tht sounds face aint bothered. Slap me wrist later if ya want

Not a nice way to greet a new friend Triplex...

Hi Daddy85
Welcome to PCR forum..
There are a few master gamers on here that i'm sure will be of some help to you hwen they come on..

I presume that after upgrading you did a full system reload ?
Definatly install the M/B drivers for the chipset etc..... without these your running in uber low performance mode.... the generic drivers provided by MS can also cause this issue.

Have you ran a full HD diagnostic.... ran chkdsk etc

Is your DVD drive on a seperate channel ?

I had an issue like thisa before and it turned out to be that the controller was corrupting data.

Iapologise for my lack of manners hi everyone, thanks for being understanding,
As you can imagiene I was in a bit of a rush to get this fixed.
I have uploaded the lastest bios update for the motherboard
I have not run checkdisc as I cant seem to find it on startup menu.
can you please take me through tis step by step???

Open "My Computer"
Right Click "C"
Left Click "Properties" -> "Tools" -> "Check Now"
Make sure both boxes are ticked and then start it..... it will probably say that the test will be ran at next startup....
so reboot.

(I presume your account has admin rights because this would also cause issues)

ok will do asap, can i ask how do i find out what chipset i am using (i know noob question but i have never needed to know) then i will get latest drivers for chipset. thanks for your time!

Its ok mate :) I apologise for my jumping on ya case

It does not sound like a driver problem at all more maybe a faulty Optical drive
Maybe a faulty cable? Is it an IDE or SATA drive?

chkdisk is run by entering into RUN/CMD

in command window type chkdsk /f

this will then tell you chdsk cannot be run while system is running do you want to examine drive on reboot

type 'y' and enter

Reboot your machine it will then run a diagnostic of your main drive. It could take a few mins.
After unning it will start O/S again

Your chipset will be written in the manual if you have it.

no pros i understand.

I ahve already tried several optical drives all encounter same problem,
Have installed on partners ;laptop and worked fine just slow due to specs of laptop!
Have installed all latest drivers other than chipset drivers as i dont know how to.
is now also bringing up a problem with engiene.dll on dark messiah???
any more ideas?

I agree with TD a nice little introduction would be nice, to learn a little about someone is always beneficial. If you just post and expect an answer then we might as well be answering machines and not compassionate humans.

It really is nice when we can help others with answers to problems that hey if they asked my brother the right way (google) would find.

PC Review is a community based forum...and is willing to help anyone and i hope people who get the desired help ..try to help ones not as knowledgable as themselves
