I have been trying to dowload programmes from the BBC iplayer site bu
first it tries to install Adobe AIR. This fails, giving a meaningles
Windows message stating that the installer has stopped working. I can'
get the Manage Attachments feature to work so I can't upload images o
the error messages. I have an administrator account.
Following instruction, I downloaded AIR directly from the Adobe sit
and found that it still wouldn't install on my account. It asks m
twice if I want to run the installation exe file but from two differen
locations which is weird. Once again I can't upload an image for som
reason but the first Open File dialogue box has:
Name: ...mon Gail_Becx\Desktop\AdobeAIRInstaller.exe
Publisher: Adobe Systems Incorporated
Type: Application
From: C:\Users\Simon Gail & Becx\Desktop\AdobeAIRI...
and the second dialogue box has:
Name: ...\Temp\Low\AIR5415.tmp\Adobe AIR Installer.exe
Publisher: Adobe Systems Incorporated
Type: Application
From: C:\Users\SIMON~1\AppData\Local\Temp\Low\...
After I select 'run' for the second time nothing happens. If I go t
Task Manager then two Adobe AIR installation processes are running bu
nothing ever happens. I manually stop the processes. The suggeste
Adobe installation log file never shows anything. If I log on as m
daughter then AIR installs perfectly! Unfortunately when I return t
the BBC iplayer website on her account then the file download fail
some sort of 'check' (a BBC/Adobe check rather than a Windows one) an
stops. If I return to the BBC site on my account then it just tries t
install AIR again!
BBC don't support their iPlayer software.
Adobe have been unable to help, though I'm not convinced they'r
actually prepared to try that hard.
I get the impression it's always someone else's problem.
Any thoughts would be very gratefully received.
Thanks,
