Can't Insert > Picture / WordArt...

Office XP. Excel 2002 (10.2614.2625): the Insert: >> (Picture/WordArt/From
File) etc feature isn't functioning, all options are greyed out. When
loading, the options in the toolbar appear functional (colors), but grey out
once worksheet is loaded. Any ideas? Thanks

Not protected, but I had the sheets grouped. When I ungrouped them it
worked OK. Is it not possible to add wordart to a group of sheets?
 
AFAIK, only cell contents/formats can be filled across sheets. Objects
that reside on the drawing layer above the cells (e.g., pictures,
shapes) don't appear to be able to be filled.
